I am also responsible for ensuring any builds or alterations to animal accommodation will not only meet the internal standards but will follow good practice and will be future proofed against external licensing requirements.
I sit as an SME on a number of projects to aid in continuous improvement across the organisation, which includes high-level projects and training elements across our sites. I am often relied upon to guide and inform senior managers in decision making according to regulations and good practice.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
I have learned many new skills to aid my project management and continuous improvement related responsibilities including correct risk management, stakeholder engagement, understanding how to see the inputs and outputs of a process and how this can affect the engagement of the process users. How to manage forces to change and how to apply tools such as fishbone analysis and statistical analysis to improve a process.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
2/5
The structre did not feel great and there was a lack of overall communication on how the online sessions would impact my work load and that there would be more sessions after nearly a year on programme that would have been much more helpful before we started wok on our project and presentation. It felt like somewhat of a waste of time to have these session a year a part and after we had already finished our project
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I was guided by my line manager throughout the project and had dedicated time each Friday to spend on my apprenticeship.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
I had a dedicated tutor that I saw every 2 weeks. We kept to a tracker and had set targets to work on between sessions. This helped me to keep on track through the project
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
3/5
I have not yet taken the end point assessment, but I hope that having the qualification will allow me to take on a more senior role in the organisation dedicated to project management
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
3/5
Yes, there are conferences, but I am home bases so many social activities are online
