Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
I am a project manager working on projects aimed to improve digital services and customer experience. My role involves interacting with a diverse range of stakeholders and external customers to deliver meaningful, value adding change for the organisation and UK public. This involves planning, analysis, problem-solving, risk and issues management, leadership, mentoring/coaching, among other technical pieces such as financial appraisal or benefit management.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I have enjoyed learning about new methodologies, tools and techniques, and having the safety of being to implement them in a controlled way at work. Additionally, I have enjoyed learning from others experience and receiving constructive challenge, allowing me to reflect on personal practice.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
Yes, the apprenticeship has provided access to a network of peers who I can draw on for ideas or to learn lessons. I have been introduced to new techniques, tools, methodologies and research, and been able to implement what has been learned in practice.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
2/5
This score reflects the provider more than the University of the workplace. The organisation has been inconsistent, and there have been several occasions of issues that could have been easily avoided e.g., not providing access to materials in time, not sending through workshop links, not releasing marks on-time.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
My employer has been incredibly flexible and allowed me to seek as much support and help as I have needed at the time. When support has been needed, this has been given without issue. I am free to organise and plan my learning around my other work commitments.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
1/5
Limited - there is a single opportunity to ask for feedback on assignments, so if you are struggling there is no further opportunity to ask questions. Office hours are provided, but the trainers often don't turn up to host them. Emails are often not replied to, and if they are, it takes several days or weeks.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
I have seen significant improvements in my understanding and application of learning. The learning has brought me much closer to the operational standards.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
Volunteering network - as an apprenticeship lead. This involves highlighting to young students (14-20yr old) about apprenticeship options and securing roles within the Civil Service.
Apprenticeship network - I support other apprentices in learning and engage with peers in monthly forums.
Accessibility Testing Team - I partake in testing trials for accessibility software
Socially I volunteer with disabled children through music and singing.
