Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
• Carry out the investigation to the relevant standard, pursuing all reasonable lines of enquiry, with an awareness of the differences and associated risks in parallel civil and criminal investigations.
• Interact and collaborate with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders including other parts of HMRC, the Police, Border Force, National Crime Agency, Solicitors, Crown Prosecutors, Counsel and colleagues from Other Government Departments.
• Undertake a wide range of desk-based duties, including the analysis of material, preparation of written material and official documents, including Search Warrants and Production Order applications, case files and reports to consistently high standards and in accordance with procedural and legislative requirements.
• Undertake operational activities such as search of premises, under warrant or by statutory provision, seizing and detaining goods where appropriate. Dynamically applying laws, adhering to legislation and policy at all times.
• Undertake arrests, under statutory provision or bench warrant and conduct search of person, diffusing potentially confrontational situations.
• Conduct interviews under caution, check transcripts and write witness statements to the required standard.
• Conduct briefings
• Attend court to give evidence in criminal prosecutions.
