2.2/5 - Structure and Support

Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
3/5
The collation and analysis of information from various sources. This analysed information is then distributed to customers, tailored to their needs.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
2/5
The apprenticeship has not yet seemed to be entirely relevant. Some of the knowledge and assessments are not relevant in every role, and so some may not be used for a few years until I enter my next posting. Motivation is consequently lacking.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
3/5
Existing skills have been developed from a basic level to a level appropriate for the workplace and real-world scenarios.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
The programme is clearly structured in a linear fashion.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
Time is set aside to ensure I am able to work towards the apprenticeship in work hours. Colleagues also offer advice and suoport as they have been through the process before
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
2/5
Aside from the mandatory meetings, not a lot. Material has not been uploaded to OneFile and so I had to ask colleagues to provide me with their old paperwork so I knew what to do. Responses to emails are also very slow, and so I lose time waiting when I could be making progress on my assessment.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
1/5
Not much. The practice of analytical techniques is helpful, but the understanding and assessment criteria have already been validated in previous training.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
1/5
Some. There are sports teams and opportunities, but other than sport there is not much available. Irrelevant to the apprenticeship.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend The Army to a friend?
Yes
Why?
The work is fascinating and there are many opportunities others may find of great benefit. The apprenticeship feels unnecessary after training but it is ultimately not too intrusive.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to The Army?
Use the time set aside by the employer to crack on with the apprenticeship. Other colleagues will be able to guide you so there is no need to panic.
