Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
1/5
My role is troop level j2. On a day to day it ranges from training accompanying the troop on ex and reppibg j2 products.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
2/5
Not really,

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
1/5
Not realy, apprentship work has been exclusively self taught and not related to my job role. Skill fade from trainjng due to lack of access to systems

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
1/5
Poorly, having two chains of compand made it hard to box time for apprenticeship work. The fact that the signals were doing a level 3 meant that there was a poor understanding of the type of work we needed to do. Often double or tripple booked and squadron work allocated at the last minute/informed at the last minute.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
1/5
Occasionly had Friday mornings to do apprentiship work but not consistent.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
3/5
Good support and communication with training provider.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
1/5
Seems irrelevant to current role and likely to have little relevance to future role.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
1/5
Not in work, but have ambition to organise a human terrain and religion talk.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend The Army to a friend?
No
Why?
I don't think the apprentship is relevant to my work, it is an opportunity cost in terms of time that stops other up skilling (I.e. a language). I think the whole apprenticeship levy is a poorly thought out policy that has resulted in time consuming credentialism for practical work and producer capture from private providers.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to The Army?
If it becomes an option opt out of the apprentiship l and try and access funding for other training.
