Overview of Experience
Please give an overview of the insight and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.
I spent 1.5 weeks with a supervisor in a disputes seat and 1.5 weeks with a supervisor in a transactional sear. During these 3 weeks, I was given fascinating and varied tasks by my supervisor as well as 3 assessed tasks which included a written corporate task, a written disputes task and a group presentation.
What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?
Incredibly insightful and rewarding. We had a number of 'coffee conversations' where partners and associates from a range of teams would talk to us about their practice and answer all of our questions. This was a great way to learn about seats and practice areas that were not covered by our supervisors.

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
The high-level tasks my supervisors gave me alongside deadlines for assessed tasks, meant I developed my communication and organisational skills in order to effectively manage expectations and prioritise my work. I also gained a valuable and in-depth insight into the diverse skills and attributes needed for Gibson Dunn's diverse range of practice areas.

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
The culture exceeded my already high expectations. Every single person I encountered during the scheme including partners, catering staff, trainees and IT support, went out of their way to welcome us and took the time to answer our questions and give advice.

Overall Experience
To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
I thoroughly enjoyed every single day on my scheme. It was well structured, fascinating, truly insightful, fun, and hard work. I made great friends with other people on my scheme and we were all very sad when it was over.
