Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

My role as a dental is to provide the best care to patients by assisting the clinicians effectively during treatment and procedures. Always making sure everyone is ready for the clinican by providing all the equipment and materials to them. I ensure all patients are comfortable when they come in and give them full support when during procedures.

To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I really enjoy my programme so far. As I’ve found it quite interesting. I’ve learned many things which I didn’t know about before and it’s a programme where I’ll continuously learn new things and develop many skills throughout. Im gaining hands on experience and the chance to learn and earn at the same time.

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I developed many skills throughout my apprenticeship. For example, I enhanced on my communication skills as my day to day role is communicating with different patients. I developed good teamwork skills as I’m able to work effectively in a team with the clinician I be working with providing the best care for patients. I developed my organisation skills as I’m always getting everything prepared before hand for patients to work effectively during procedures or treatment with the clinician. I’ve also gained a lot of confidence since the start of my apprenticeship as im confidently and effectively communicating with staff members as well as patients.

How well organised/structured is your programme?

My programme is organised and structured very well as everything is set on time regarding my course work and stuff. And is structured very well where I’ll achieve all the components of my programme less than 2 years which is good. I’ll be able to get qualified in time.

How much support do you receive from your employer?

I receive a lot of support from my employer as they always helping me achieve my deadlines on my training work. And the ensure I’m easier and get time to do my work and achieve the best regarding my programme. With the support I receive from them it’s making it easier for me.

How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

I receive a lot of support from my training provider as the things I’ve struggled they have set certain things for me so I can understand and learn from it. With all my training work I’m shown and educated on it before I do my independent learning which is so helpful.

How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

With the qualification I receive through mi training provider I’ve learned a lot of things in my role. For example, the roles and responsibilities of a dental nurse I got educated on it through my programme where I was able to understand my role better in the practice and fulfil my roles and responsibilities well.
