Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
I am involved from when the customer notices an issue with their home appliance to when the product is fixed. This whole process involves working alongside the contact centre, the factory, the engineers (and their partners), the warehouses, the online troubleshooter and support content.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
3/5
I have enjoyed constantly being exposed to new areas across the business and so have been presented with multiple opportunities to grow and develop. I have found the university component more difficult and stressful due to the compressed nature of the course and the lack of overlap.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
I have become more attentive to identifying trends and patterns. I have become better at communicating technical information and ideas.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
I attend university one week every month, for the first 6/7 months of the year. I am grateful I attend university in week blocks as that has given me sufficient time for networking and socialising with others my age. But the university can seem intensive and rushed in how the content is presented and how quick you are expected to understand everything and stay focussed.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
My employer is understanding of my programme and the work, time, and stress that university brings. I am given sufficient time to spend on university work.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
I have a university tutor. Every few months, we have a tripartite meeting, where I attend alongside my manager, and my university tutor to discuss my progress throughout the programme and transparent communication is shared across how help can be given. My university tutor is quick to respond to messages and has urged us to feel free to contact him anytime with any concern. Any issues we have with the programme, he notes down the feedback and shares it with the programme leaders with the aim to improve the programme.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
3/5
There is not much overlap between the content studied in university and my role at work. In university, topics are explored in depth and leads to many tangents. I personally have found it difficult to focus with university content as there is often a large gap between what content is taught and how its connected to my role. The degree was chosen as it has the most overlap and does cover engineering fundamentals essential for my role. Then again, my role is a culmination of so much knowledge and skills that it would be hard to find something that covers more than electromechanical engineering does.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
There are societies, groups, and frequent networking events. We are encouraged to connect with others across the business to develop better work connections and better understand the business.
