Most of my work revolves around Business tax and completing the compliance cycle for our clients but i also have the opportunity to assist in other departments and assist them with their work.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I really enjoy the programme i am on. The firm offers plenty of time and assistance when it comes to our study and supports us through any difficulties we have. i also really enjoy the team i am in at all levels.

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have definitely developed a lot of skills, both new skills and developing existing ones. I have also gotten more confident through the opportunities provided by S&W when it comes to communicating with clients and other departments/offices

How well organised/structured is your programme?

the programme is well organised. The exams are laid out in a way that we have plenty of time to study as well as a large enough gap between exams that in the unfortunate event of a fail you can resit it without worry of pushing back other exams.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

Lots of support in both exams and daily work. Plenty of resources for us to access as well as the managers are very supportive and willing to help and explain things in our daily work to help deepen our understanding.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

the training provider is very good particularly during the set study periods and the tutors are always willing to answer questions, although it does at times feel awkward at times to reach out to a tutor in their personal time to ask queries
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

definitely helps with the technical understanding of some parts of my work and the training has been great for understanding what other departments i work with consider and do in there daily work. However, the the course only has a couple of tax modules to learn from.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

there are plenty of social events. We typically have office wide socials once every 2-3 months with teams socials almost monthly. Many people in the office also go out after work on a Friday together and go to lunch together. there are also professional networking events each month we can attend and other activities throughout the week. e.g local pub quizzes, pool, table tennis etc

Why?
S&W has been great to work for, and I have made really good connections within my team and the rest of the office and get along really well with the people here. The atmosphere in the office is very chilled and easy going and it never feels like you are unable to look to someone for support.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to S&W?
My application process was very easy and S&W made the process feel very relaxed and not stressful at all. I would suggest just being yourself in your interviews so the hiring mangers have a chance to see what you are like and how you will mesh with the rest of the team. Also be sure to show your enthusiasm for working with the firm and in the industry and spend a little time on the firms website looking at our recent history, achievements and anything else you think might be useful to know.
