Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

The overview of my role as a data analyst and what it involves on a day-to-day basis is as follows:
Mainly consists of data gathering using SQL, data analysis/creating dashboard reports, creating views using SQL and presenting my reports/findings to my manager. The main tools I use for data analysis are: Excel, SQL and QuickSight.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I have very much enjoyed the apprenticeship programme from beginning to end. It was challenging sometimes, nevertheless it was a necessary component of the experience, I have learnt much from it both in terms of technical and non-technical skills. The support I have received from my manager, colleagues and the wider team whenever I needed guidance made all the difference that made the programme enjoyable.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

Yes! I have learnt new skills and developed on other skills. I have learned to create dashboard reports using the QuickSight platform for data analysis, I have also learnt new SQL skills and I continue to learn and develop on my existing data analysis skills. Additionally, I will be starting soon to learn Tableau

How well organised/structured is your programme?

The programme was well organised/structured. I was given ample time for my learning and the pathway was very clear in terms of assignments and deadlines. And if I ever needed a clarification or assistance, everyone are very approachable. I knew who to turn to if I wanted to ask something, and work/study time was well balanced.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

I have received sufficient support from my employer. In addition to my manager, I also had a dedicated mentor both of whom were very supportive whenever I needed support or guidance. The apprentice team at the company aslo organised events for apprentices across the company. These were very important to keep with everyone, socialise and get support from the staff
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

My training provider assigned me a mentor who supported me throughout the programme. My mentor was very approachable. If I needed any help, I would simply book a meeting session over Zoom and have all my questions/queries answered. My training provider also had weekly drop-in sessions where learners could joined to receive support, guidance and clarification from assignments deadline to examine dates and general support/tips.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

Ask I joined my employer as an a apprentice, it meant that that my qualification through my training provider was the main catalyst that helped me perform better in my role. The skills I have learnt through my training provider were much the core of what I need to perform better in my role at my employer.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

Yes! And have participated in apprentice get-together events, networking events, and appreciation events
