Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
3/5
Operations management and leadership of a hotel team with many direct and indirect reports. Recruitment, compliance and overseeing a full hotel operation
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
It's good but I think there some things are not very practical and the learning can be quite academic.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
Yes. The models and used and the networking and the knowledge bank of information on aptem is really useful.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
The structure and organisation is very transparent
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
Generally really good, perhaps not enough talk about the real key benefits on completion and the pathways it opens up.
The employer side feels like it's about hitting a number rather than investing in professional development
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
Total support here
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
It's been helpful for sure but I'd be lying if I said it was hugely impactful.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
1/5
Outside of work meetings there aren't any extra curricular activities. Sporting events would be a big thing for work to look into.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Whitbread plc to a friend?
No
Why?
I want to remain balanced here...having worked for the company for 13 years it is a good company. However too many mass consultations, too many changes in a short space of time, I couldn't recommend to someone at this stage
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Whitbread plc?
Be mindful that this is no longer a career path. They can help you in so many ways but you are just a number. A cog in a giant wheel. A solid employer overall but just be mindful.
