Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
3/5
I work in the Engine rooms of lifeboats, take care of the mechanical side of their maintenance and refit
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
Hard question to answer nothings is perfect. My company certainly takes care of its apprentices. I have been given a substantial amount of extra training along with to the college course the Apprenticeship is attached to .

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
I have developed a large amount of skill throughout my apprenticeship

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
2/5
I have worked with some managers and suggested some improvements to the in house apprenticeship work supply. I have found that in work My education is not targeted and several cells work despotically to teach apprentices. I have created a curriculum to hopefully remedy this.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
The managers will do what is possible within their power to support apprentices if needed. They have also started working more closely with college to help prevent apprentices falling behind.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
3/5
My Lecturer is really good. However he is bogged down by the amount of students he has to deal with so he is less able to focus on students individual needs
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
The course I'm doing is not tailored towards any specific company. In it we learn to be a well rounded mechanic.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
There are some extra circular stuff. for an apprentice especially. Volunteers are needed all the time for various reasons, and I believe there is a football team and a campout. However I do not get particularly involved with these.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend RNLI College to a friend?
Yes
Why?
Well in my severely limited workplace experience I believe it a good place to work and that the company does in fact care its employees, nothing is perfect but this place is a is a very stable employer where their is a possibility of upward mobility.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to RNLI College?
Complete adequate due diligence when researching the companies activities in detail, and important historical figures etc.
Try have some sort of marine experience, not required but it is appreciated.
