Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

My role is to recruit candidates for the Detention Custody Officer role at Yarls Wood IRC. I will initially screen candidates, book for a virtual assessment, conduct the assessment and then follow the process to offer stage and book candidates in for their training course.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I love learning new skills and this programme has been really beneficial for me so far. Everything has been explained brilliantly and i feel comfortable to approach my lead trainer if i need to

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have learnt so many new skills being in this role. I fell into the recruitment role and Serco is the first career path that I have been on so i started from the bottom in admin and have worked my way to Coordinator role.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

I think it is really well organised and structured. I know where i stand throughout my apprenticeship and feel confident with the tasks so far
How much support do you receive from your employer?

My employer is really great in offering support when i need it. She is happy to support me through anything and everything. We have a sound relationship and continue to work together to achieve tasks and goals as needed
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

My training provider has been brilliant in supporting me. I feel reassured every time i speak with the provider regarding my qualifications
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

I feel that this has helped me quite a lot already to perform better in my role. It has solidified things i was unsure of before and i feel much more confident already within my role than i did before starting this apprenticeship
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

We do have professional networking events, for example, there is a VE Day event happening in May where colleagues get together to support and celebrate

Serco have been brilliant in helping me to progress my career. I have met some really inspirational colleagues at Serco who continue to encourage me to be the best version of myself and work to my potential

My advice would be to be your best professional self. Serco is an extremely inclusive company who live by their values and thrive on helping their employees to find the right career path for them.
