As the supervisor, some of my main responsibilities are completing checks on machinery/equipment within the lab, equipment calibration schedule supervision, training of new technicians in all areas, releasing product as free for sale, completing the daily quality and right first time report, issuing certificates of analysis/conformity, department lockdown auditing, XRF analysis, managing consumables and stock, test methods and SOP amendments and creation, observing the correct use of PPE, completing waste water analysis for trace metals, and to support with HR processes as required.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

Although stressful at times due to added workload on top of every day tasks, it was great to learn new things that will help me in my role. Learning over Teams meant people from all over the country in a variety of professions can share their experiences.

My apprenticeship course provided me with knowledge different leadership styles and models. I am able to adapt these to suit the supervision of each individual within my team.

Very well organised. I got a lot of help with planning from my course educator.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

When there were planned day courses, I was able to book a room out in the office and complete the sessions with others who work at my site. It was great to be able to do this and learn collaboratively.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

My educator was a great support. She met with me once every couple of weeks throughout the course. She also made time for extra meetings when I was in gateway and preparing for my end point assessment.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
