Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

I work as a member of the laboratory quality team to carry out routine testing to measure process performance and identify non-conforming results. This involves applying my understanding of material properties to generate accurate measurements of the composition of infeed and outputs across all separation stages, and collating data to maintain records. We also support environmental protection and health and safety through tasks such as monitoring Legionella risk.

To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I really enjoy the programme. While some parts of the course don't link to anything in my workplace, I have been able to transfer relevant parts of the course to my work and make a positive impact.

I have had the opportunity to develop many skills and build on my knowledge through hands on experience at work and additional courses that have been offered by the company.

I have received sufficient support from my workplace to meet the requirements of the course, and they have given me extra time for exam revision when needed which I am grateful for.

How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

My tutor is great and follows through with regular check ins however there was some issues in the delivery of some of the course content and on the marking of any of my work or assignments which has led to there being a lot to fit in before my completion date. This is a little disappointing when it was initially suggested that there would be opportunity to get ahead and complete the course early.

How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

I have had opportunity to do extra short courses such as a Legionella Awareness course and the IOSH Managing Safely course and attend some networking events.
