Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
Working within the Recruitment team for the Department for Education. Dealing with external, internal and OGD transfers and promotions. Issuing salary calculations and contracts to all new starters. Ensuring they are added to the Departments payroll system and authorise all IT requests.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
Very much so, the coursework was my favourite - I enjoyed the research and extra reading given. The CIPD website is vital!

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
Yes, I have become more confident when dealing with the wider HR teams, as a result of completing this apprenticeship. It's given me a more rounded understanding of HR on a whole.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
Very well organised. The Department themselves (DfE) have a wonderfully supportive Apprenticeship team - with regular contact, webinars and catch ups for support.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
Both the Apprenticeship team at DfE and my line manager were very supportive. They ensured I was able to take my 20% OTJ time and helped me with any queries or additional information needed.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
2/5
Be Pro - was OK as a training provider. They changed staff regularly, so I did have various mentors, coaches and tutors - which wasn't ideal.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
It gives me a better understanding of HR on a whole - in the wider business.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
Yes - We have various social networks and regular charity events/socials that staff can attend.
