Operational Delivery - ensuring the financial sustainability and compliance of academy trusts. Checking the financial health and compliance of trusts by conducting desk reviews. Respond to queries and allegations about the financial management and governance of trusts. Compiling submissions for funding or Treasury approval requests.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

Love my work, my apprenticeship is relatively new so very exciting.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

Yes, financial analysis, managing difficult conversations, negotiation techniques, presentation skills, excel and data manipulation. Learning how the financial function has developed over the last few years

How well organised/structured is your programme?

As i said, relatively good but good structure with clear goals and deadlines. Clear instructions and support from instructors and wider apprenticeship provider.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

Not proactively sought out any yet but i am aware of the network and support network presence. Also invited to meetings.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

Still relatively new but the support received to date has been amazing.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

Still relatively new, the first topic was helpful as my role is part of a restructuring consideration so very important to highlight the need for the finance role in the wider business context
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

Wellbeing and D & i activities/groups are active. Also a volunteering community with opportunities out at local community stakeholders.

Yes
Why?
The vision is aspirational. The leadership was very supportive and there is a cohesive atmosphere even through the backdrop of uncertainty. Lots of pastoral support available if required.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Department for Education?
Reach out and join any drop in sessions. Very helpful guidance on job description - always talk to vacancy holder.
