Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
I have my own key child group and track their learning and development, care routines and work with their parents to stay up to date with their evolving needs and interests. This involves planning and leading activities to support learning and development, nappy changes, sleep routines, and leading mealtimes ensuring all dietaries and allergies are managed carefully. Together with my team, I also ensure our room is an enabling environment to support the children with age and stage appropriate learning.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I enjoy my programme a lot as I get to build the bonds with the children and their families and learn through a hands on experience or by observing all aspects of the role.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I have been able to further develop patience and problem solving skills. This includes different ways to approach challenges and creatively think of solutions. I have been able to build on my creative skills through setting up areas of the room and creating activities that are engaging for the children.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
It is highly structured, there are clear explanations for each question assigned and a designated amount of off the job time provided. There are regular reviews as well as drop in sessions held to track progress and offer opportunities to ask any questions if unsure. Each question also lays out the exact skills to showcase within each. Each theme links into the next to assist with cementing the knowledge learnt.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
My employer is always available for any questions or support that I may have. If I feel I am struggling with anything they take the time to talk it through and find examples to demonstrate for additional support.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
I can email at any time with any questions or attend twice weekly drop in sessions. If my assessor is out of office, I am welcome to contact any of the other assessors for support. They regularly have reviews to track progress and check in for any questions as well as well-being check ins. This allows for them to implement any additional support methods should we require it.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
This qualification teaches you not only how children learn and develop but why. It ensures I understand that certain behaviours may present as challenging but could be a sign of many things which enables me to create a supportive approach. I can understand why parts of the role are carried out in the method they are. As we showcase skills across all ages for the qualification it builds confidence and knowledge for all ages in the nursery and not just my home base room.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
They have offered us enrichment days at different style nurseries and training opportunities. There are regular team social outings for everyone to have an option to attend and they hold a yearly awards evening and summer festival.
