Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
1/5
I have applied for appernticeship for Team Leader but I am only allowed to one hour before shift and one hour afeter shift as my experience. They are not good times for teaching as lots of times deputiy and section leader they are in hurry to start/finish work ( even they try their best to help me out). I am only limited to do some of responsibilities of deputy. I can only use computer to check something in system when somebody let me log in as I don't have my password, I can't go to offices without asking, as my pass doesn't work, as I am not a dep. I can't see all responsiblities of my section leader as my direct/personel leader said after this apprenticeship I may only be a deputy not a section leader. For my project I train new staff- but any experienced picker without apprenticeship is allowed to do so. I have to be very creative on my own to gain as much experience as I can. That is the reason why I asked to do deviation reports. I am not permitted come on my days off to be on any workshops, or reviews. I am allowed to do my study but I already heard opinion of my direct/ personel leader most of appernticeship is self study and I should be productive as company pays me 30 hours. I am not on apprenticeship where I get lower pay. I get full one...
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
1/5
All apprenticeship I felt like I am problem. From time I clock in I am being counted in produtivity of my shift. There is no time reserved for apprentices who are pickers without impacting throughput... That is why I can only do my hours before and after shift. I can't change section as my financial and private situation not allowes...Also it is not convenient to have apprenticeship on the same time as lots of new temporary deputies, as they are priority. Even I have applied for deputy position I was told I have to chose from being deputy and being on apprenticeship... Deputies have received training when I have asked about it reply was:' because he/she is a dep and you are only on apprenticeship'.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
1/5
I have learnt very minimum skills, as it was given to me because company HAD TO not because they WANT TO. I can see how supportive other manageres are, and kind of projects and tasks other people on this programme do. Even I can't balame my shift leader as he does what he has been told from his manager...The best skill I have learnt out of this apprenticeship is what NOT to do as manager... But apparently I am last one on apprenticeship as my direct/personel leader does not want to have more apprentices....

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
1/5
From ALDI side programme is not organised at all. Managers does not have enough understanding of apprenticeship as all programme. All structure/ organisation is down to lack of knowledge. Experience and organisation is vary on section apprentice works, and their direct/personal leader.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
1/5
Very bare minimum.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
All staff of my provider are amazing. They have helped me at every single step to overcome problems with my qualifications. I received addition courses and sessions to make sure I will be able pass my exams. Also they always open for help.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
I can gain new knowledge and new perspectives on my role, and also on role of my leaders. I gain new techniques for example Jahari Window, which are helpful in role of manager.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
1/5
No

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Aldi to a friend?
No
Why?
Because a lot depends how are you liked by dierct managers to get any training/ course/ promotion. There is a lot of bias. People to get where they want need to creep up to managers, act like best friends, and 'up' a game to get what they want. Experience, service, and loyalty mean nothing if manager does not like somebody.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Aldi?
If you have any ambitions to be anything more in this company than basic worker don;t apply. And if you apply make sure you will be sweeting up all managers, even not directly connected to your role. You have to waste company time to get private conversation like ; how was your holidays; over showing you are good member of staff. If you keep head down and work, you will be not recognised. If you become on very friendly level, they will think you will do whatever they ask you to do, without fever questioning , and you will get promotion- because THEY decide way before any interviews, and set up interviews just for cover that everything is done due to the procedures.
