Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
My day to day job is to attend callouts and investigate electrical appliances and ensure they are safe to use and are opertating correctly, I have jobs sent to me via email and I have to contact the customer and arrange a time to attend. I am apart of the m&m team and have the benefit of working for different manufacturers on a daily basis.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
3/5
The first year was enjoyable going from basic knowledge to being confident walking into any situation knowing I have the skills and knowledge to properly fault find and maintane appliances. The last 6 months have been alot quieter and I haven't been able to get on jobs as I would like. this has resulted in me using holiday to fill my days to ensure I can make a good wage for the month, speaking with the m&m team they have expressed that they are trying to get more work and diffrent contracts so hopefully the future is fruitful as when I am working I really enjoy this job and the enjoyment of completeing a job and making a customer happy, I'm just not good at adapting to the idea of working slower to earn more as i always try to be as efficient as possible.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
I come from an electrical background so had basic knowledge on how electrics work, and how to fault find circuits. Since joining mcft I have broadened my knowledge of electrics and now have alot of appliance experience the main reason for my appliance knowledge is being on the m&m team. I have been fortunate enough to to be sent on mulitple manufacturers training programmes such as electrolux and wellbuilt.
The knowledge learnt from these courses has majorly improved my understanding on how diffrent appliances work and how to easily fault find and repair them.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
Knowing my group was the test group the start was a bit of a mess as we started building a portfolio and then the criteria changed so we had to adapt and the portfolio we preped had to be restarted and moved to a diffrent app.
After this change once google classrooms was setup it has been easier to submit work and understand the criteria. I believe someone should review out hours booked for trianing as they have over booked us out for a few weeks we are not training this effect us majorly as we can't be booked I for service or jobs until the hours are removed from our schedule this effect our potential earnings as we won't ge the opportunity to earn on site time.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
Mcft as a whole has been very supportive, [This section of the comment has been removed by a member of the Higherin Team because it did not meet our site terms and conditions] is hard to get hold off sometime but this is understandable knowing the growth of the academy's over the past 2 years, my coach is the main call point for me as he is also my team leader, [This section of the comment has been removed by a member of the Higherin Team because it did not meet our site terms and conditions] always goes out of his was for me and is always at the other end of the phone wither it is work or personal related, happy to call him my boss and friend.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
So far the company had been helpful making me understand the criteria and what is required and has given me the operunity to put pen to paper.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
I believe the basics from the start such as safe isolation and basic fault finding has helped me understand appliances and how to safely work on them and limit the risk to my health and other
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
We have had a m and m night out with our team and enjoyed getting to know everyone i was lucky enough to go to dubai last year.
I would love the opportunity to work abroad for mcft and this part of my life is the best opportunity as I ahve no children or much responsibility right now.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend MCFT to a friend?
Yes
Why?
This job is a great opertuniry to get into a commerical catering as it had no idea what it meant before starting here.
For months I have been advertising mcft to people in my life who I think it would benefit mutual both company and person but not many people want to take the risk of a pay cut as it has taken me alot 2 years to get to what I was on working for lidl.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to MCFT?
Tips would be to get basic knowledge of appliances via youtube or guides. Go in to it with a fresh mind and ensure safety takes priority on all task as we are playing your life and others.
