Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
As a Reward Apprentice, I support compensation and benefits initiatives through operational tasks and projects. I help with annual benefits enrolment, communication campaigns, events, inbox management, and compensation benchmarking, ensuring smooth processes, clear messaging, and accurate data to enhance employee experience and support effective reward strategies.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I really enjoy the apprenticeship, especially the exposure to strategic work and task variety. Balancing study and work can be intense, but the university offers excellent resources and structure. I’ve had great support from my team and valuable opportunities to be an ambassador, all of which have boosted development.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I’ve developed strong Excel and Microsoft Office skills, confidence in presenting at events, and experience in drafting clear communications. I’ve gained expertise in coordinating projects, managing stakeholder relationships, and handling data with accuracy. My role has strengthened my problem-solving abilities and attention to detail in a professional, fast-paced environment.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
The study side of the programme is well-structured with clear guidance and resources. The employer training is strong too, though as part of the first apprentice cohort, I’ve helped shape its future development. Support from the apprenticeship manager has been excellent—personal, responsive, and key to making the experience a success.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
I receive substantial support from my employer, including regular check-ins with my line manager and apprenticeship manager. I benefit from 10 study days annually, flexible and hybrid working arrangements, and reimbursement for all study-related expenses, which greatly enhances my learning and overall apprenticeship experience.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
I receive excellent support from my training provider. The study programme is well-structured with clear guidance, resources and feedback processes. My tutor is amazing and the module conveners are very knowledgeable.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
My business management degree significantly enhances my performance in my role. It provides valuable insights into external and internal business dynamics, helping me understand broader business contexts and apply this knowledge to my tasks. This perspective is crucial for effective decision-making and strategic thinking in my apprenticeship.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
3 volunteering days, XMAS party, Employee Resource Groups, Culture committee, Apprenticeship ambassador and many more
