Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
A daily meeting with my team starts my day off, we go over what everyone did the previous day, what they're doing to day and if they have any barriers in their way. After that I get on with any tickets that I have picked up, quite often I ask my team members for help and they help every time and teach me what to do.
Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
I was treated like a proper employee with real responsibilities. In my first 2 weeks I gave a presentation on what my team had completed in my first sprint. I expected to be making coffees and running errands but it was nothing like that. I was treated with a lot of respect and quite often forgot I was only a placement student because I felt like a real team member.

I've developed my communication and collaboration skills whilst in my team. My planning skills have also grown because I've had to plan tickets for future tasks.

Support and Guidance
How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
The other developers on my team gave me so much support and were so patient with me when I was getting confused. Also getting praised when Id completed work was a lovely thing. I could go to anyone in my team with any issue and they would support me as much as I needed.

Company Culture
What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
The company culture was nothing like I expected, it was such a relaxed and friendly environment. Everyone was lovely and welcoming, it was such a lovely atmosphere in the office when there was a lot of people and when there were only a few.

Overall Experience
To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
It has been the best academic year I've had in y whole academic career. Because I moved to London (away from my University city) for the job I had an even better experience. I've loved the time at Egress, met so many nice people that I will keep in contact with. Even though everyone in my team is older than me I never felt like I was discriminated or prejudged because of that.

What advice would you give to others applying to Egress
Be ready to be thrown in at the deep end and learn what its like to work in a driven company with very string morals and visions. The socials are great because it gives you a chance to talk to employees you don't see very often. Whenever I go to a social I love having a chat with [This section of the comment has been removed by a member of the Higherin Team because it did not meet our site terms and conditions] (The CEO) and other members of the board. Be ready to learn a lot and have fun on the way
