Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
A big part of the day is spent on tickets submitted by my colleagues that do need
assistance from us. Requests regarding user access to mailing lists, calendars,
specific apps, licenses, and users experiencing issues with their laptops are among
the common ones.

Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
Real responsibility was given to me during the placement. Always felt like a full-time employee with great exposure to the business and involved in meaningful projects that had a real impact on the business.

I have learnt a huge amount regarding the operational side of the business, working

How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
The team was really united and supportive. Truly a great environment to be part of.
I have felt everyone was approachable and helpful when I or my colleagues needed assistance. Loads of support and guidance were given from the line manager as well, who massively contributed to my development and performance.

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
Relaxed and fun workplace. That place where you do come in at work being happy and leaving with a great sense of fulfillment. From day one, colleagues of different ranks from across the business were welcoming and managed to create a healthy, productive, and collaborative environment.

Overall Experience
To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
These 12 months spent at Egress working as an IT Operations engineer proved to be challenging but fulfilling on a personal level.
This placement year has definitely been one of the greatest experiences for me as I have learned a huge amount regarding the operational side of the business, working with cloud technologies, communicating professionally, and tackling various projects individually as well as part of a team. It has been an invaluable opportunity that formed a solid foundation for my career in tech and one that I am glad that I took.
