Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
My role in the salon is assisting the stylist and technicians and then once a week I’m in academy which is a full day of training. On a day to day basis in the salon I shadow stylists, wash hair, mix colour, blow dry, clean and help with reception duties.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I really enjoy my program. I like the work and do and the people I work with.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I’ve learnt many skills while working in Toni& Guy Kensington. As well as learning how to cut, colour and blowdry I hair, I’ve also learnt a lot about time management and assisted our style director in creating hair ups and avant guard hair piece which taught me a range of new techniques and skills.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
The academy is very well structured and I always know what stage I’m at in my apprenticeship. I feel confident knowing that there’s always someone to help me if I’m not sure about anything.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I receive a lot of support from my manger in salon as well as the manager of my course. My manager in Toni & Guy Kensington always communicates with me and I know I can go to her for support and I have regular check ins with the manager of my corse, so I feel very supported.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
I receive a lot of support in my training. I regularly go over my targets and goals with my training provider, who is always in communication with me and my salon manager. I always feel encouraged and supported to push myself to achieve the best I can in my qualification.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
I feel that my qualification and training is always pushing me to perform my role in the salon better. The more I learn the more responsibilities my manger gives me and the more I enjoy my role and feel comfortable doing clients hair.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
Yes there are, Toni & Guy are the official sponsors of London fashion week so I’ve had the opportunity to go assist on a show. I’ve also entered the Toni and Guy assistant competition.
