Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

My role on a day to day basis is to welcome clients in, offer them a beverage, washing clients hair, keeping the salon nice and tidy, assisting the stylists I work with, looking out for hazards for health and safety, washing up the mugs and washing and drying the towels.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I really enjoy this programme, I love how many friendly people you get to meet, the educators that teach you all the skills you need to know, the routine of the job roll and being able to do what I’ve always dreamt of doing as a kid.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

Yes, I have learnt so many new skills during my apprenticeship, such as how to do a lovely blowdry, learning how to colour hair with different techniques and the theory behind it, how to wash and massage hair, not to mention how to cut hair in many different ways.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

It’s very well organised and structured, there’s always a timetable of what you’ll be learning on the day, and when you are learning they visually show you step by step and help you, there’s a lovely HR team and lovely educators/colleagues there to support you too.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

I receive a lot of support from my employer, wether it’s needing to catch up on work, wanting to learn and know more about the job roll, and just generally having someone to go to when you need extra help within the job roll.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

I receive a big amount of support from my training provider, wether it’s needing extra support if I’m struggling on a certain topic, or them helping me keep up to date and helping me not fall behind with any work.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

I feel that my qualification through my training provider helps me perform better in my roll by teaching me how to be professional and work with people better, knowing I’ve got the support and patience whilst learning to help me be the best I can be, also having loads of practice time all makes me feel like I can perform better in my roll from how much I’m learning on the job.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

Yes, we have a yearly event called MainStage where they showcase all the educators work through a fashion show for all the employees watching at the event, including music to dance to and a bar to grab drinks at with your colleagues which is great fun.

I would recommend Toni and guy to a friend because I love everything about this job, it brings you out of your comfort zone, brings you to work with new people and new clients, teaches you amazing skills that are specifically Toni and guys way and there are a variety of different skills to learn with the brand, all learning on the job.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Toni & Guy?
Some tips and advice I would give to others applying for Toni and guy are to really pay attention to all the different skills your learning, to ask questions about the topics, mention if you don’t understand something very well so they can help you, and it’s okay to make mistakes along the way as we all make them.
