As a scientific engineering recruitment consultant, your day revolves around working with both clients and candidates. You talk to companies to understand their hiring needs—things like required technical skills, team fit, and project goals. Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients is a big part of the job.
You spend a lot of time sourcing candidates through job boards, LinkedIn, and your network. Once you find someone promising, you review their CV, have a chat to assess their skills and goals, and match them with suitable roles. You'll also write job adverts and help candidates prepare for interviews.
Managing the hiring process is key—setting up interviews, collecting feedback, and handling offers and negotiations. You keep your CRM up to date, track your progress, and make sure everyone stays in the loop. Along the way, you stay on top of trends in the science and engineering space so you can speak your clients’ language.

I’ve learned how to assess CVs, conduct interviews, and match people to highly specific positions. The role has sharpened my communication, negotiation, and time management skills, while also improving my attention to detail and experience with CRM tools. I’ve also built a solid understanding of industry trends, hiring processes, and employment regulations.
