I am a brewery apprentice and therefore am actively working to create world class beer on a large scale whilst learning how every area of production works and experiencing them first hand.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

Very much. It’s interesting fun and the people are great.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have learnt the basics and the bit so basics of brewing whilst also learning quality assurance/control and packaging. I work as a team so therefore have developed my teamwork skills

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?

It is well organised however there are sometimes where things are left late and it’s a rush to figure out what’s happening
How much support do you receive from your employer?

I receive support from my employer when I need it but sometimes it feels like the questions I have need to be directed at other people.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

I receive all the support I need about any subject to do with brewing. It is very good and can’t complain at all.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

I feel like my qualification allows me to understand my job role so much better and without it I would struggle to understand anything.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

I often get the opportunity to attend beer festivals competitions and get to meet people from all over. There is also some activities such as the quilt which you can join if inclined.

It’s a good company to work for and there is a lot you can learn from the people working there. Very good company to work for.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to St Austell Brewery?
Have an open mind and be ready to try things that you might not have been prepared for. There are a lot of opportunities that can arise from the company and my advice is to take all the chances you get.
