Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

My role is to manage 6 supported living services. Supporting the staff teams to provide the best support they can in every service. Ensure all training is compliant to support them to carry out their roles and responsibilities in relation to supporting people in their own homes. Ensuring the Safety and Security of people we support and staff is paramount to their role.

I have grown in my knowledge base since aquiring my Level 5 apprenticeship in Leadership and Management. I am adaptable to change and have a better knowledge of why these changes occur.

My programme was well structured and organised and my tutor was knowledgeable on the subject.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

My employer was very supportive right through the course ensuring I did not veer off in another direction and encouraging me to keep going.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

My trainer was always there when i needed her supporting me and finding the best learning styles for me.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

I have a better knowledge base of Social Care and the Standards we work towards and why change has to happen to improve the lives of those people we support.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

Yes we go to a Care convention every year and there is the family forums and our voice meetings. We have a newsletter which I am in charge of creating for my area to showcase all the amazing things people we support are doing.

I am proud to work for Lifeways. I have worked here for 18 years and have worked with some really amazing people as well as supported amazing people over that time.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Lifeways?
It is a lovely place to work, amazing people we support and amazing teams. There has been some great work coming from services and some really good initiatives.
