Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
I am usually looking at RAMS and method statements, going through health and safety issues, looking at small quality packages. Also, doing induction to new operatives onsite and also learning how to talk to different characters correctly.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
Its very enjoyable and very rewarding. It does come with its challenges working from 7:30 - 5:00pm, traveling 2h daily, being around lots of different characters but it also comes with alot of fun, the culture onsite works well with who i am as a person which is also great!

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
Yes, things from my personal growth from confidence and ability to talk to new people to looking at the construction onsite, learning from the operatives and people within the management team.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
We have placements which are planned 2-3 years in advance, and if any problems arise its simple to move the placements around if needs be.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
WD staff are always positive and happy to help, which i have found to be extremely beneficial for my personal development onsite, not to mention the perks you get with uni being covered which is incredible.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
As mentioned in my pervious question, Uni fees being covered is massive, and also its great to go onsite site and be able to ask professionals any related questions I have.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
My uni course doesn't relate to the things I am doing onsite very often, but with that said, its great that I will always have a degree behind me when I graduate.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
3/5
Yes there are.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Willmott Dixon to a friend?
Yes
Why?
They care about your development, both personally and job related. It is nice to come to work everyday and enjoy the team you are around. Despite being a trainee, I don't get seen as one which I find is very good.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Willmott Dixon?
Stay consistent. Its a very hard industry and takes a long time to get used to it, but going to work everyday makes it a little easier up until the point it becomes second nature.
