Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

Assist in provision of robust analysis, commercial support and financial rigour to the UK business to help drive the best decision making that will support the delivery of strong and improving financial results.
Assist in the preparation of UK and supporting business functions’ forecasting activities including budgets, forecasts and strategic plans
Support FP&A’s reporting of divisional performance to the Board through commentary & insight of commercial performance vs. budget.
Support the BAU reporting and compliance cycle, i.e. the production and delivery of data, analysis and PowerPoint presentations for key stakeholders (Board, Management, Lenders and Regulators).
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I am enjoying the programme, the job is fast paced with a variety of tasks and projects and with lots of development opportunities.
The academic side is well taught and the resources are useful. The administrative elements are less enjoyable, but do provide some value in self reflection and development.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have been able to develop a number of existing analytical and communicative skills in the role. I have also been able to learn new softwares and techniques to enhance my effectiveness.
I have a wide range of tasks, which has provided me with experience in business partnering various functions.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?

The programme is well structured, I am always aware of the requirements of me and the time frames for completion.
I would like to speed up the academic side slightly but can discuss with the learning coach, who said the programme is flexible.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

I receive lots of support from my employer, in terms of diverse development opportunities and time to study.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

I am provided with excellent teaching and resources to aid my learning. I am able to contact the tutors outside of classes with any queries.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

I feel that through the techniques learnt, I have been able to refine my approach to tasks, and it has added vital context to financial problems and queries, as well as my approach to solving and thinking about business problems.
The nature of my role means that financial accounting principles do not come up frequently, but it is still important to know and be able to apply these.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

I take part in football weekly, which is organised by Audley employees. There are other sports available and socials occasionally by company and by department.
Professional networking events are less frequent.

Why?
It has a great company culture and ethos and is a very supportive place to work. There are always opportunities and projects that are available to help develop and learn skills, and there is a strong focus on ESG. It is a nice place to work and in an interesting and growing industry. There are always exciting things to learn about.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Audley Travel?
It is important to take an interest in the industry and to understand the company culture. Audley has strong values and that helps it to maintain a positive atmosphere for staff. It is a dynamic and growing business, so it is vital to be able to adapt quickly to change and to enjoy solving ad-hoc problems.
