Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

I work in digital engineering and automation. Working in the development of software tools to aid and increase efficiency of production processes. I work with various languages like c#, big query and get access to multiple softwares like Tabelau, 3DX, Plural sight etc.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I enjoy the program due to it being with an extremely well ranked university and the experience at work is extremely smooth and welcoming.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

My training has led me to work with extremely experiences mechanical/data/cad engineers and I have trained under them. I have gained an enhanced understanding of 3dx (a cad modelling software), c#, tableau as well as many other softskills.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?

The organisation could do with some work on the training provider side. lack of clarification on module and logging off the job hours has caused a lot of confususion.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

JLR is extremely helpful with support. Many of the managers and mentors have been apprentices so understand the task of balancing studies and work and are very accommodating of any university commitments.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

The training provider provides a lot of support in terms of recording lectures and prividing lecture notes as well as support sessions for upcoming exams and assignments. however, there isnt a great level of conveying details about any sessions and they may happen at any point.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

The training I recieve at university gives me a lot of insight on the wider industry and that helps me on roles in my placement.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

Yes there are a lot of activities through Early Careers and YPN networks that have a lot of socials running throughout the year and are very well organised.

Why?
JLR has a lot of experience when dealing with apprentices and allows a seamless transition while also still providing a great degree of responsibility that is not too overbearing.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to JLR?
Ensure that you research the company extremely thoroughly and look at JLRs goals and vision and see how you can aid that.
