Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

Hi I am an apprentice at Toni & Guy Deansgate and i love being part of the team, I meet and greet clients, offer refreshments, Shampoo and provide Hair Therapy Spa treatments, Blow dry clients, keep the salon looking professional, assisting stylists and technicians.

To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

i love it, i enjoy the challenge to improve on every model and i look forward to going to work everyday. I get loads of support from my mentor in the salon and have weekly training times as well as my Academy days.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have learnt so many new techniques, this has helped my confidence loads, I can now apply my new skills to actually doing it on real clients, i am learning and improving every day

How well organised/structured is your programme?

The program is well organised, i know in advance my set training days, i have reviews regularly and know exactly what i need to work on next. I know if I am struggling there is someone always around to help.

How much support do you receive from your employer?

I have loads of support, i have a mentor in the salon, the manager is very approachable and always on habd if i need help in anyway

How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

I have loads of contact with my assessors, they are very helpful, I sometimes struggle with my OneFile journal and they help and guide me on how to improve with all aspects of my learning journey.

How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

I have always wanted to work for Toni & Guy, the brand is recognised worldwide, as the training is mapped to all the Toni & Guy haircuts and colours, I know I am being trained the correct way and this will enable me to be current and up to date with the latest trends and techniques

Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

We have opportunities to enter competitions every year, we also have Mainstage every year where all the new collections are released and it is a big awards and event that all salons worldwide attend. We also have the chance to work behind the scenes at London Fashion Week.
