Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
2/5
Supporting the controls systems on a prototype production line
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
2/5
There isn't much to work on in my current role, so it's not particularly enjoyable.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
3/5
I've learnt some Allen Bradley PLC programming and a lot of soft skills such as communication, teamwork, etc.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
2/5
The education side is well structured, but it's easy to end up not learning much on the job if you're not super proactive about getting onto placements, as your home team might not work on many projects
How much support do you receive from your employer?
3/5
I've had good support from my manager
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
My university tutor is very helpful and has assisted me with both educational and personal problems
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
The university modules give a wider view of engineering, which makes me feel more capable of working in different engineering roles in the future.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
Yes - there's lots of early careers events, sports teams, etc.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend JLR to a friend?
Yes
Why?
It's a good opportunity - better than the traditional route of getting an engineering degree and then applying to jobs, in my opinion.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to JLR?
Learn to drive and get a car before you start!
