Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
as a maintenance engineer, I am always fault finding issues with many different systems incluidng robots, fluid power, PLCs, using hand tools, working as a team or alone, applying logical thinking, improving systems and others.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I enjoy it greatly, the only downside being the distance the college is from the wolverhampton site, as well as some of the college staff being disrespectful and overall not making the experience as good as it can be.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
I have greatly developed existing skills on fluid power, using hand tools and health and safety as past jobs involved using these skills. I had never working with robots and PLCs before so I had learnt these new skills.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
it is well organised and has a good structure so I always know what I am doing next or where I am supposed to be. If I am unsure I have the neccessary contacts to help me with this.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I recieve plenty of support through occupational health, my manager at work and my collegues around me are all very helpful.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
dependant on the tutor but they are all great so far and they provide top level teaching to support me in passing units off and developing skills.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
I feel there is not much teaching on how we would use the skills in our role as the teaching is quite vague on how it would be applied. But have learnt quickly upon going back to site on how I can apply what I had learnt so I have had no issue with it.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
no

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend JLR to a friend?
Yes
Why?
overall I believe it is a great place to work, it is very well organised and is a great company to work for. it is well established and a brand to be proud of representing.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to JLR?
it is a bit overwhelming at first the scale of the sites and what they expect, but is is easily achievable with all the support provided and quickly becomes very comfortable and enjoyable.
