Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

As an Assessment Leader I manage multiple qualifications from beginning to end. I am involved at the beginning in creating the content. Forecasting the correct amount of Examiners. I facilitate training of Examiners and monitor and support examiners with completing their marking to quality.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I very much enjoy my programme as I am upskilling myself and understanding the data and dashboards that I look at on a daily basis. I am working with varied people which has been great. I am keen to put my ideas into practice and create new projects.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have so far learnt data analysis skills using Python, R and SQL. I have learnt about the importance of how to collect data, how to clean data and how to present data the concepts. I am currently going to learn how to collect and join data using Python.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

It is very well organised and structured. The platform on Kate is very user friendly, I am able to see where my workshops. I am able to plan accordingly and share with my Manager and internal Data Mentor what is coming next and what I can do in a project.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

I receive a lot of support from my employer. I am able to when it is quiet take a full day off and commit to learning. I have received a lot of support from other colleagues within different departments. I am very well supported.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

I receive a lot of support from my provider via the KATE platform and the tasks that I need to complete on that platform. There is a lot of material that is available for me to complete additional learning. I am able to ask technical questions and receive instant feedback.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

I feel like I am able to look at current processes and see which could be automated and what teams I will need to ask to complete them. I believe I am able to look at data and its uses in a much more critical and useful manner.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

There a lot of things to get involved with at work. I am part of a few workstreams. There are a lot of in person network events across the UK as well as remote events. I am part of Pearson Spectrum Bookclub, which is an LGBTQ+ book club.

Why?
It is very diverse in its demographics. It has many working groups. It has many opportunities to upskill yourself. It has great locations across the UK and the world. It is a learning company which applies to me also. It is a great place to be.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Pearson?
Be yourself. Show what you have done and what you would like to do. Think about how you could contribute to Pearson values. Think about what Pearson could do better. Be the best you in the interview and its two-way partnership you give to Pearson and they give to you.
