Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
I manage a team of 40 colleagues to deliver a great shopping trip to all customers who visit any Fresh Food areas of the store.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
1/5
The course covers a wide variety of topics but most of it I already know. I'm also expected to do 99% of the course in my own free time.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
Have improved my computer skills by doing the apprenticeship.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
2/5
There is structure to the programme however some months have much heavier workloads than others. Since Xmas I haven't really had anything to do as content is completed and I'm just waiting for end of course assessment.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
1/5
I was led to believe I would be given time in work to complete the assignments; however my apprenticeship is seen as very very low priority by the store manager - so I completed 99% of it at home in my own free time.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
The training provider has a good website, online help and my coach is quick at dealing with queries.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
3/5
I feel my qualification will document the skills I have learnt during my career at Tesco.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
1/5
No, there is to the best of my knowledge nothing organised either by Tesco or Colleagues for people doing apprenticeships.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Tesco plc to a friend?
Yes
Why?
It is a good company to work for, and I have always found it has supported me with flexible hours. There is a real team spirit instore and everyday is different.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Tesco plc?
It's retail work, so you need to be realistic about your shift patterns. Most customers shop evenings and weekends so if you are looking for a Mon-Thurs 10-2 role its probably not the right field for you.
