Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

I meet with the management team, review the daily occupancy list, assign tasks to my team, and ensure that all rooms are ready for check-in. Inspect the public areas and check the supply levels. I monitor how the staff cleans the rooms, consider any guest complaints or special requests, and ensure that all urgent maintenance issues are resolved. I evaluate the day’s work, provide feedback to staff, ensure everything is set for the next day, and handle any last-minute requests from guests or management.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

Overall, I have been enjoying my apprenticeship so far. It’s been a great learning experience, and I appreciate the opportunity to develop both my skills and knowledge.

The program provided a clear learning pathway, with defined milestones and training sessions tailored to my role. This ensured I developed both the technical and leadership skills needed for my current position.

How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

The support I receive from my training provider is extensive and has been crucial in helping me work towards my qualifications. Throughout the apprenticeship, I have regular one-on-one meetings with my assigned training mentor, who provides tailored guidance to ensure I’m meeting the required standards. They help me set achievable goals, offer feedback on my progress, and suggest areas for improvement.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

I feel that my qualification through the training provider has significantly improved my ability to perform in my role as Head Housekeeper. The training has equipped me with a deeper understanding of key areas such as staff management, quality control, health and safety, and effective communication—all of which are essential to my responsibilities.
