Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

On a day to day basis I run and manage the purchase ledger which includes matching off invoices to purchase orders, running the CIS return monthly to HMRC, making payment on accounts and reconciling statements. Responding to any external and internal queries.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I thoroughly enjoy the program as I feel that I get all the necessary help and advise when needed. There is plenty of online learning available to me on various different platforms and this is made accessible from all my tutors.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have learnt the fundamental skills on sage500, and can confidently manage the high volume of invoices that come through to the business. I have also expanded my skills using Excel which includes data analysis, pivot tables, graphs and formatting.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

I feel that the program is very structured.
I receive 1-1 meetings to ensure that I am keeping up with what is expected from me and if I am struggling with the workload and deadlines there has always been flexible arrangements made to ensure that I get to the end goal.

How much support do you receive from your employer?

I receive lots of support, this includes some extra time and support to go over any areas that I am unsure on. My employer is very understanding and will help as much as possible to make it as stress free as they can.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

There is multiple platforms with different training resources accessible to me whether this is online videos/ Lectures and flash cards as well mini tests and practice exams laid out like the real thing.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

At the moment I am working towards taking on more responsibilities which my qualification will hugely benefit my role and will have given me the confidence that I need to complete it. I have already been able to use the skills from my qualification into my role on a day to day basis.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

Marlborough holds plenty of social and networking events that I have been able to attend to. They have done a social sporting event and I have also attended some networking events myself. They also hold apprenticeship days which is a really good opportunity to meet others completing there apprenticeship and to offer advice to younger students looking to complete an apprenticeship.

Why?
Marlborough Highways is a very personable and friendly place to work. They offer good incentives and they are very enthusiastic about apprenticeships. This can be a great opportunity as they also are paying above the minimum wage so you can complete your training whilst still earning before becoming qualified.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Marlborough Highways?
My advice would be to focus on your goals and what you hope to learn as Marlborough will help you reach that. It doesn't matter if you don't yet have all the previous experience as long as you have enthusiasm and a willingness to work and put in the effort you will do well.
