Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
I am responsible for leading a team to deliver outstanding customer service through working in a efficient and productive manner to ensure great service and availability, all the while working safely.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I found the programme to be stretching and challenging but also very fulfilling. It refreshed older knowledge however also learnt new approaches and skills.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I have been able to grow my active listening and project management skills through completing my apprenticeship. Investing time in self I have also been able to focus on keeping my own learning moving and to inspire others to take up the challenge of an apprenticeship too.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
The course was well structured, the only challenge lay with changing tutors who had different opinions as to the approach for the course.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I had huge support from my line manager and the business. We actively support Partners of all ages to take up the challenge and whilst I can manage my own time, I have also enabled team members to have the time required to complete their course.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
I had lots of support, however the change in tutors did provide a challenge to overcome.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
My ongoing commitment to learning is bourne from past challenging situations and this course has futher enabled me to challenge my thinking and focus on improving myself as a leader of people. This course has enabled me to take on new and different challenges and with a new focus.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
Yes, there are social activities, clubs and societies I can get involved in. Sailing and photography are two I am directly involved in.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend John Lewis Partnership to a friend?
Yes
Why?
In retail there is nowhere else I would want to work. You are working for yourself, as we don't have shareholders and whilst it has its quirks, it is a great place to work.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to John Lewis Partnership?
Think about not just the skills you have but how you fit with the ethos of the business. Your behaviours are as important as the skills you bring to the table. It is not just what you do, but how you do it that matters.
