Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
I work as a public health apprentice. My role is primarily research focused and typically sees me looking into current public health issues within my local authority. Examples of this would be work such as working with healthcare professionals in the east of England to map current cessation services for youth vaping.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I am finding the programme incredibly fascinating and have begun to put my new knowledge and skills to use in the workplace.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
My programme lasts for three years and many of the skills I will develop may happen later on in the programme. Currently I have already started to develop my academic writing and have learnt how to appraise evidence and challenge the reliability of information. These are both crucial to a role working within public health.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
The programme I am enrolled to is extremely well structured, especially for someone like myself who has never entered this level of education. Both the university and my employer work hard to ensure I have a organised and educational structure to my work.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
My employer is incredibly helpful in the process thus far.
My managers have been more than accommodating of my needs and push me to achieve excellence. There is not a bad thing I could say about my team, managers or employer as I have had nothing, but a pleasant experience.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
My training provider is very helpful in supporting me on my educational journey. I am able to reach out for advice or guidance at the drop of a hat and have been greeted with kindness, support and honesty.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
The training is crucial to the role that I am currently in. The training will provide me with an excellent foundation for knowledge that I can then apply to my work. From there I can use my knowledge gained from my training provider to further develop skills.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
2/5
If there are I am not aware of them, however I am not keen on social activities outside of the workplace with colleagues as I prefer to keep the two separate.
