Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
I am responsible for monitoring the pricing and promotions strategies across all Category Proposition Groups in John Lewis. I work closely with Category Proposition Group teams to understand the performance of the existing price and promotions strategy compared to expectations, escalate underperforming areas, and develop and implement recommendations for optimisation.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
The program has helped me learn a lot that I didn't already know. The coaches have been great, despite having to swap coaches partway through. They are friendly, supportive and very knowledgable in the area we are learning. The course is a reasonable balance of online courses with video calls and reading through videos to help understand the learning. As a learner with dyslexia, I found there was too much reading, and gave this feedback, but online read the webpage tools have helped with this.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
In the Level 4 Data Fellowship apprenticeship, I've learnt foundational skills to become a high-performing analyst, such as cleaning, analysing, and modeling data. You'll also develop abilities to visualise data, tell compelling data stories to non-specialists, and lead conversations around machine learning.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
The processes were clear and made sense with asynchronous learning planned to be completed before any online calls, where any learnings were cemented. With more context and the ability to answer any complex question that may have been left unanswered from the asynchronous learning. The only difficulty with this is when learners are unable to complete any of the asynchronous preparation. While there are warnings of this in the early stages, it makes catching up very difficult, but sessions are recorded and available throughout the course of the apprenticeship.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
My employer and manager have been brilliant, while work has caused me to get behind some of that is my own making. The business has not prevented me from spending the additional time needed to catch up. The business is clearly on board wth apprenticeships with many fellow partners on the same or different courses. I feel in very safe hands.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
The support levels are great, with coaches on hand to answer questions via email and regularly jumping on call to support as and when needed. They also set up work workshop session once a week, where you can listen to other questions which may support your work, or ask your own questions if you have not been able to find the time.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
What I have learned has helped me massively in my role. I am now able to perform tasks that I never would have been able to do before. I feel this course has opened up opportunities for me going forward into other areas of the business, and open door for progression into different areas of retail.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
The partnership is great for extracurricular activities, with supported learning up to £300. I am part of a go-karting club, where I have thoroughly enjoyed being part of a team in 24-hour races. The business is brilliant at supporting partners with networking and learning new skills.
