Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
3/5
At the bbc, technical operators work across radio as studio manager and directors, and also in television in roles such as camera operator, sound operator, editing graphics, and lighting. I have placements across radio and television in which I am learning these different skills
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
3/5
Very much so, I am learning many new skills and I enjoy working with the different people in the teams.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
Yes, I have learnt lots more about radio and television. I have learnt how to operate a sound mixing desk and how to use cameras and pedestals, as well as how to edit and floor manager.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
I am on different placements which gives me variety, however communication is not the best and my manager does not keep in contact with my placement managers.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
I have a apprenticeship coordinator who is always there for when I need them.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
I have two contacts for when I need support, although I have not currently needed any support.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
Yes, the qualification is directly related to the work I see at the BBC and therefore it is helping me.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
2/5
I am not sure, I have not been informed of anything but networking events.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend BBC to a friend?
Yes
Why?
Friendly environment and a good place to work
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BBC?
Be passionate about the work that you are doing and why you want to do it. The BBC will not care as much about what skills you currently have as long as you have the passion and work ethic to learn new things and improve.
