My current role as a maintenance apprentice consists of maintaining and repairing equipment and systems that are used on the shop floor.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I thoroughly enjoy the apprenticeship. I love the work I do on a day-to-day basis and the team I work with make it easy to learn and develop
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

On the mechanical side, some skills I learned was diagnosing and repairing things such as worn bearings, misaligned actuators, belt degradation, and hydraulic or pneumatic leaks. These systems may involve pressurized environments, heating elements, vacuum pumps, and precise timing cycles. I have also learned how to fault find, and read electrical wiring diagrams as well as more physical skills like welding and soldering
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

I think the programme started with a few difficulties for the apprentices in terms of not getting too much support during the year at BMW but has drastically improved in the second year.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

In the second year, we receive much more support with a fast response time.
