General Management Industrial Placement Review

Included 7 months working in a store, being trained up to an Assistant Store Manager role which included ordering for the store, running shifts and managing Store Assistants.
The rest of the placement was made up of shadowing Area Managers to gain insight to their role in the business, and completing projects in Head Office across several departments including Property, Logistics and Store Operations.

During store time, when completing projects and when shadowing Area Managers you are given a lot of responsibility, and an opportunity to make real impacts in the business.

Yes! The responsibility and independence you get given over the year is immense, which makes you grow both professionally and personally. The placement year really helps you to gain good work ethic and complete tasks to strict time targets.

The support and guidance given to me by my mentor as well as the management in my store was encouraging, which enabled me to get the most of of my training.

Aldi staff are passionate about the company and are expected to work hard in order to meet targets. This is appreciated by management which creates a rewarding culture. In the placement year you are expected to work long, unsocial hours leaving not a lot of time outside of work to socialise, but the work is rewarding, which makes it worthwhile!

I enjoyed my placement, although the work is hard and there will be long days, it is so rewarding and you have the opportunity to make a real impact on business processes, across the whole year.
