Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

As a service leader at Westmorland, my responsibilities are to ensure a smooth running of service within my department. We deal with a wide variety of customers, cashing up, stock control and providing quality food and drinks.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I cannot recommend this course enough. Taking learning from the classroom to my workplace is my favourite part about the course as it’s tailored to our company.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

My new skills are based around people management. This has been my most useful skill as it is something I can continue to improve throughout my career.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?

The programme is very organised and structured which is displayed at the start of the course. The tutor has lots of knowledge alongside this other managers within the company are aware of criteria which is needed to cover each KSB.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

My employer supports me a lot, they are very keen to be involved in all aspects of my learning and have been encouraging to do so. Throughout my career with Westmorland, they always strive for excellence and want to progress people throughout the company.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

With monthly 1-1s with my line manager, we can accommodate the upcoming tasks needed to complete for the course. Every colleague/ management team has been positive around the course and has been doing their most to support me in the course.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

The course has helped me as a young manager to navigate all aspects of my job role, they are happy to help when I’m not at college. My performance since starting my course has excelled and has been discussed amongst colleagues who have noticed the difference.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

The company provides different opportunities depending on your job role, networking throughout the company is easy as you can communicate with everyone you wish to. Westmorland encourage networking when they hold huge events such as the family brief which includes suppliers, managers and colleagues who have been recognised for their hard work.
