Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

I plan and produce the goods that are sold throughout the country at our motorway service stations. I work collaboratively with different departments, manage a small team within the department and am involved in the development of new and exciting products befor ethey are mass produced for the organisation
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I spend 1 day a week at in person learning. To have that time in a proper academic setting has allowed me to fully immerse myself in my learning journey. It is a highlight of my week and get so much out of it.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have developed lots of new skills. The most valuable being managing myself and others, being able to see the impact that my actions and words have on others, and how better to manage situations when dealing with others has been invaluable.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

The programme is organised in such a way that the peak times in the business is not affected. This has allowed me to fully concentrate on my studies. The lectures are entertaining and informative and work beautifully with my learning style.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

My employer has been amazing throughout my apprenticeship, from organising a break in learning after losing my mother halfway through a term, to the open and transparent way i have been helped from the director down to my line manager, i have felt zero stress from my employer.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

The help from the turors and staff on campus has been amazing. I left school at 16 with only Standard Grades and within 2 years I am currently completing my level 6 with scores that I never thought possible/ the only reason it is possible is the time and effort made by the staff
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

It has lifted me several levels. Being given access to information that i would never have found myself has built my confidence, i actively seek senior stakeholder engagement on assignments, something i would not have done before. It has provided a great base from which i have been able to improve
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

As far as extra cirricular activities go, all of my time is spent on my childrens growth. That being said, i have been afforded the chance to sit many training courses that have had a great affect on my personal life.

Why?
The company manage the impossible, they actually live the values to which they say they should be held accountable to. The name is Westmorland Family and is just that, the compassion I have been shown during some difficult personal events is something that I'll remember forever and is something that has been lacking in my professional life.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Westmorland Family?
If you want to succeed and to grow within this company, let them know. They are always developing talent and with the range of job roles available within the organisation you are bound to find your niche.
