Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
My role includes being out on a construction site and setting out for every element that is required during the build. My role also requires me to attend University on a one day per week basis studying a Civil engineering degree.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I have really enjoyed my time on the programme up to date, i have been surrounded by loads of very experienced people with various professions to allow me to ask questions and soak in as much information for me to develop my skills on site further.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I have definitely learned valuable communication skills from just being out on site and having to relay messages to all. Also I have developed my skills of actively thinking and finding different solutions for different works needed.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
I think that the programme is structured in a way that is effective for both university and on site experience. Where I am able to develop both an academic background of engineering but also experience how it is used in a professional way.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I receive a lot of support from my employer and colleagues, for example specific engineering apprentice days where me and the other engineer apprentices get the day with the sole purpose of focused support for us.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
I also get support focused on working to my qualifications from my employer. For example during times of exams and coursework deadlines, I am able to focus and study on the subject/modules for a couple days prior to the exam.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
I feel like the qualification that i am currently studying towards is very useful to help me perform at my role. Even through 7 months of working and studying, the modules learnt including structural analysis and design, and materials have really helped me achieve more of an understanding of engineering, and specifically construction as a whole.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
There are plenty of extra-curricular activities that both the employer and site teams provide, such as: networking events all across the year, sports activity days for team building and much more.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Vinci to a friend?
Yes
Why?
The help and support that has been shown to me has really aided me in developing my skills and passion for civil engineering and would with out a doubt recommend the programme to anyone who has a keen interest in the field.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Vinci?
A main bit of advice I would give to others applying to VINCI is to have a quick research about VINCIs presence in whichever area is closest to you, including looking at what projects VINCI are in charge of or apart of.
