My role as a Historic Environment Apprentice is dynamic and varied, offering opportunities to learn and grow in the field of heritage conservation. Daily, I am involved in a lot of research, whether desk-based or through site visits, to implement measures for protecting the historic environment in UK-based projects.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I highly enjoy my apprenticeship, as it enables me to have hands-on -experience with the historic environment.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have learnt many technical skills-for example using GIS which is always developing with new projects and tasks. Also soft skills such as communication and being able to adapt to work.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

As it is a new apprenticeship introduced within Motts it is a bit less organised/structured compared to other apprenticeships.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

My team are extremely fundamental and helpful in training me. However, I wish there was more allocated time to just training and learning at Motts, where I could be shown OTJT before implementing it to projects.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

There is a lot of support from Strodes college- as they are just an email or call away. The online training is very helpful in explaining the processes behind my work.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
