Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
I am an electro-mechanical engineer at mott McDonald, because of my dual job title I assist in both electrical and mechanical projects. As of the work I've done so far, I have mainly been doing mechanical work as it is hard to jump in to electrical work straight away but as I learn in school I will be able to further assist with electrical work.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
3/5
its been hard, and a lot of work but I do enjoy the work that I do and the people that I work with. The only part I'm not enjoying is trying to find time to do my school work but I believe as I progress with my degree apprenticeship I will become better at this.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
have learned a lot of technical skills as I have progressed through out my course and my work such as fluid mechanics and basic electrical principles. but I have also developed soft skills such as communication and team work when working on projects at work which I feels as though are the main benefit of the of working while being in uni.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
I think it is done well, one thing that I find difficult is the week blocks and I believe that I would have dine better with one day release a week.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
My employer is very good at supporting me with not only with being accommodating for my needs in terms of work loads and study days but also the people here are more than happy to help me out and answer my questions whether they are related to work or school.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
While I'm at uni the support is very good and there seems to be an endless amount of it. regarding out of uni many of my teachers have been doing support sessions and giving out extra learning which has been very helpful.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
2/5
So far a lot of the work I have been doing at school does not directly related to the work I have been doing at my workplace, but I feel as though this is to be expected. the things that I am currently learning at uni are the basics for what we will be doing in future years at uni. I think the work will start to related back to my real work as I progress through my course.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
I've been to the badminton club, an accelerating my future course which was more of a networking event but also taught some soft skills and I have a pump course in Brighton coming up which will be very helpful to my work. there are many clubs and events i will be attending in the future as my work has endless amounts of clubs and its very easy to start your own, as well as a uk wide company sports day.
