Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
On a day-to-day basis I work on a wide variety of projects, including site visits, with different responsibilities. These projects are centred around environment and sustainability. I enjoy working on projects that are outside of the UK as they not only allow me to work with a range of different people but also the opportunity to gain an understanding on processes, legislations and policies etc in that country. I frequently travel up to the London, Birmingham and Manchester offices for in- person meetings, training sessions and apprentice and grad social events.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
My degree apprentice programme is brilliant, it has exceeded my expectations. I wish degree apprenticeships had of been spoken about more at my school when I was completing my A Levels as opposed to stumbling across them myself.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
New technical skills include:
- Environmental Monitoring and Assessment
- Environmental Legislation and Policy
- Climate Change Mitigation
- Sustainable Design and Development
Developed existing skills include:
- Soft Skills e.g. teamwork, time management
- Report writing
- Data analysis

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
My programme is very well organised and structured. There are lots of opportunities e.g. social events, travelling to other offices, work events and support in place for apprentices e.g. study leave.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
Based on my own experience, there is a lot of support for apprentices. I find the study leave days very helpful especially when there are university deadlines coming up. I also have a mentor at Motts who has different responsibilities to my line manager. My mentor is there to support me on my apprenticeship and communicate with the university.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
There is support, however, I think there is a possibility that apprentices and their needs could get overlooked if mixed with full time students.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
I am able to apply the knowledge gained from university classroom learning to the projects I am working on. This integration allows me to produce higher quality work, backed by a deeper understanding of the subject matter.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
I enjoy attending sports day, xmas & summer parties, co working days, professional networking events, training days, work drinks & meals etc.
